About

Counseling Through a Holistic Lens

ABOUT MY APPROACH Have you thought about therapy before, but were worried that you'd be misunderstood or judged? Did you grow up in an environment where asking for help was seen as a sign of "weakness"? Do you find yourself not wanting to share your thoughts, feelings, and needs in your relationship because you're worried about "saying the wrong thing" and how your partner will react? Whether you're facing challenges with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, family dysfunction, addictions, racism, or other obstacles, I am committed to making therapy a collaborative process that focuses on achieving your needs and goals. Since 2016, I have been providing individual, couples, group, and family counseling services to people from diverse racial, ethnic, gender, socioeconomic, sexual orientation, and religious backgrounds. I draw from evidence-based interventions, such as person-centered, solution-focused, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and the Gottman Method for couples. As a Pakistani Muslim man who grew up in the United States, I am sensitive to cultural, contextual, and sociopolitical factors that impact the experiences of South Asians, Muslims, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), and other marginalized communities. I use a therapeutic framework that addresses issues involving racism-related stress, oppression-based trauma, discrimination, microaggressions, and racial/ethnic identity development. COUPLES COUNSELING: INSTILLING HOPE IN RELATIONSHIPS Effective communication is no doubt one of the most important qualities of a healthy and fulfilling relationship. At the same time, what's often overlooked is the importance of connection rooted in a strong foundation of respect, compassion, and trust. Connection is feeling desired, appreciated, and cherished. It's also the feeling that you and your partner are on the same side and not in competition with one another. Challenges in a relationship can range from feeling hopeless to resentful to unloved, or even to betrayed and devastated. I utilize the Gottman Method to help couples learn new ways of communicating effectively, resolving conflict, and building greater intimacy and solidarity. For couples struggling with infidelity, I use Gottman's Trust Revival Method to facilitate healing and hope. Life is filled with challenges and uncertainties, and this can often feel overwhelming, frustrating, and even painful. Some days are harder than others, but you don't need to navigate through this alone. My goal is to not only support you in your journey, but to empower you to find the path you envision for yourself. It's your time to heal and thrive. I look forward to working with you. “Jehanzeb is one of a kind. He has helped me navigate some transformational experiences recently. I am so happy to have had him along during my journey. I am happier and well balanced. My anxiety is better controlled and it has helped my relationships overall.”

“Jehanzeb is excellent. Communication is a whole lot better and my partner is excited that I am in counseling too. Jehanzeb is good at asking questions and he sides with what’s right, not the person. I am really impressed with him.”
